How Much Do I Tip My Movers?

Ack. The dreaded question. It happens every time so you think we'd be better at answering it. We are great movers. We shouldn't be embarrassed if someone wants to reward us with a tip. But, we, never, ever want to assume we are going to get a tip. If you love us, tip us. If you don't love us, we need to choose a new profession! Here are some tips (get it!) on how much to tip your amazing movers. #CommanderMoving #FreeEstimates #BestMoversInTheBay

Tip etiquette is a touchy subject under any circumstance. It's even more fraught with questions when deciding whether to tip your movers. Although the moving industry does not have a set standard or requirement when it comes to tips, they are welcomed and always appreciated. We recognize that service is the most important aspect of your move experience. When you receive great service, you want to show your appreciation for the services rendered. Whether it's your bartender, waiter, hairdresser or valet, you base your tip amount on the cost of the service you received. Our experience shows that under normal circumstances, our customers have tipped an average of 5-10% of their final bill. This tip is always split equally amongst the crew.

Movers are entrusted with your personal possessions and we do much of the heavy lifting (pun intended!). Although they are being paid to provide a service and to haul your belongings from place to place, they could be worthy of extra recognition for a job well done. So, yes, please tip your movers if you are happy with your move. Movers don't expect a tip and a mover won't stand in front of your house with an outstretched hand and a raised eyebrow. If you are pleased with the outcome of your move, a little extra cash goes a long way in showing your appreciation. The quality of the move should factor into your decision on how much you tip. Assess how carefully your items were moved into your new home and adjust your tip up or down depending on the level of service you received.

If you just arent' comfortable with tipping your movers in cash, there are other ways to show your appreciation. Drinks on hand, sandwiches for a quick lunch break or some sugary snack in the mid afternoon all go a long way to showing your movers that you appreciate the job they are doing for you. However you choose to show your appreciation, know that Commander Moving will do their very best to make this the best, fastest and most efficient move you've ever experienced!
